Y&T @ The Globe, Cardiff, 05/11/09

With just over 300 punters packed into the former Monroe Cinema in Roath, Y&T once again strode into town, as they have many times over the last 35 years, and delivered their fantastic brand of American rock characterised by the blistering guitar work of Dave Meniketti.
.
Quite frankly to see such a great band playing effectively a sweaty pub gig is a bit heartbreaking (don't forget they were on the Monsters of Rock bill behind AC/DC, Van Halen and Ozzy in 1984), but the good news is that they're still going and playing as well as ever.
.
Most of the old classics were there: Open Fire, Hurricane, I Believe In You, Black Tiger, Summertime Girls, Mean Streak, Rescue Me and many more.
.
They have a new record out next year, and have promised to return to Cardiff again next year (following last year's great night at The Point).

All in all, a great gig from a great (and underrated) band and guitarist.
