A 2nd Win

Well I've given them plenty of stick, but fair play to Glamorgan, they turned in a decent display over at Bristol this afternoon to double their number of Twenty 20 wins this campaign.

In fact, it was a double over neighbours Gloucestershire - a pity we couldn't play them every match - and at least we got off the bottom of the group.

Still, a pretty poor campaign, but good displays from Ben Wright and Tom Maynard today.

GLUMorgan

I have to say that Glamorgan's display versus Worcestershire live on Sky Sports last night was one of the most embarassingly cringeworthy displays I have seen in over 30 years of following the county.
.
Shapeless, careless, directionless.
.
There are players who are not fit to be 1st class cricketers, over paid players in the comfort zone and a South African Kolpak bowler who has been dropped today - he's no better than our own boys.
.
For God sake guys sort it out, or if you can't, get someone else in who can!

UFO @ Bristol Academy 21st June 2009

40 years can be a long time as some of us know, but you wouldn't think it watching and listening to these wonderful veterans of British rock. Yet again UFO turned in a magnificent exhibition of high quality singing, playing and entertaining.

Yes, Phil Mogg is as mad as ever at 61 - wouldn't you be if you'd kept this vehicle running for since 1969? - but with a stunning back catalogue of 70s classics, a great banjo player in Vinnie Moore, and a sharp wit to match the sound quality, you really won't get a better 100 minutes for under £20.
.

UFO - still superb

Vinnie Moore and Phil Mogg

Set list

I can't remember it all, but there were 2 from the new album The Visitor,

plus Strangers In The Night staples:
Mother Mary
Too Hot Too Handle
I'm A Loser (my video clip)
This Kid
Shoot Shoot (my video clip)

and the big 5:

Only You Can Rock Me (my video clip)
Lights Out (my video clip)
Rock Bottom
Love To Love
Doctor Doctor.

Vinnie Moore - a superb addition to the band since 2002

Andy Parker thanks the crowd at the end

All in all - magnificent (and deserving of more than an audience of 600?).

Glamorgan v Surrey 6-9 June @ Cardiff

Ok a rain ruined draw in the end, but at least we got a chance to see some pure class in the form of Mark Butcher and the ageless Mark Ramprakash - still probably the best technician in the country - with another ton (his 105th in FCC).

Glamorgan v Worcestershire Twenty 20 040609

Another tame defeat at Sophia Gardens last night for Glamorgan by 29 runs to Worcestershire.
.
It sounds close, but it wasn't, as there seemed little prospect of Glam chasing down the 165 needed, especially once Cosgrove and Dalrymple were out.
