Glamorgan v Leicestershire, County Championship Division 1, Cardiff, 24/04/2026

Glamorgan made a solid start to their first fixture in Division One for 21 years after winning the toss and electing to bat on a bright, sunny morning at Sophia Gardens.

Opponents Leicestershire, also newly promoted, had the home side in early trouble at 91/4 but Glamorgan were indebted to captain Kiran Carlson with 95 and new recruit Sean Dickson, 90, who put on 126 for the fifth wicket.

There was further resistance down the order as Glamorgan ended the day on 334/7 with Timm van der Gugten unbeaten on 22 and Mason Crane likewise on 48 as the pair added an unbeaten 69 by the close of play.

Ebbw Vale 10 RGC 18, Super Rygbi Cymru, 04/04/2026

It was another bitterly disappointing home display from the Steelmen as they fell to a second, successive home defeat against the visitors from North Wales.

After a brilliant first half of the season, Ebbw needed just a win to secure the top spot in the SRC, but were lacklustre and error-ridden throughout, and will need to improve in the play-offs.

Playing against the wind first half, Ebbw's kicking game was poor and RGC deservedly went into the break ahead 6-3.

After the interval, home supporters' nerves were eased when the trusted 'catch n drive' did the job, with top try scorer hooker Ieuan Morris crashing over with the extra two points added, making it 10-6.

Unfortunately, this was as good as it got for the home side. Ill discipline, poor tackling and a general lack of intent, led to the visitors scoring two good tries and heading back north with their first ever win at the Ciner Glass.

Ebbw Vale 17 Newport 44, Super Rygbi Cymru, 21/03/2026

Ebbw Vale meekly surrendered the SRC Challenger Shield to bitter rivals Newport under clear blue, early Spring skies.

Despite starting brightly, the Steelmen were handed a massive blow when hooker and captain Joe Franchi was stretchered off. Jonathan Evans then departed with a broken finger, and Ebbw never really got a grip on the game.

Frustration got the better of the home side, and two yellow cards followed by a red for Ethan Phillips meant that, in the end, the visitors from the city took the spoils and the Shield.
