Gloucestershire v Glamorgan, Bristol, Day 1, 21/06/14

We had an enjoyable day at the 'new' County Ground in Bristol in glorious weather on the Longest Day, as Glamorgan were made to toil by a relentless Gloucestershire batting line up.

It was barely more than 12 hours after Glamorgan had finished their T20 clash with Surrey but, after losing the toss, the Welshmen found themselves fielding under the midday sun.

They stuck to their task well, but it was Hamish Marshall, Gloucestershire's adopted Kiwi who scored a fine century, ably supported with a 77 from Will Tavare.

Glamorgan v Surrey, T20, Cardiff, 20/06/14

Surrey inflicted a disappointing 17 run defeat on Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium last Friday night, despite the home side being in strong contention with 10 overs to go.

Surrey are a start studded outfit, with Hashim Amla, Kevin Pietersen, Gareth Batty, Azhar Mahmood, Kevin O'Brien and Jade Dernbach amongst the many talents. They posted 165 off their 20 overs with Amla making a classy 55, and O'Brien a rapid 40 not out off 35 balls. The home crowd were delighted when Pietersen was out for 1.

After 10 overs, Glamorgan were 80 for 2 and handily placed, the superb Jim Allenby leading the way with 52. He had little support however. Darren Sammy had another game to forget with a first ball duck and awful bowling including no balls.

The innings fizzled away as Surrey's wily bowlers turned the screw.

Glamorgan will have to improve if they are to make the top four who qualify for the quarter finals, but IPL like Surrey look strong with Sri Lankan hitter Tillakaratne Dilshan now coming in to replace Amla.
