Staying Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pontypool's loss at Swansea tonight means that Ebbw Vale are safe from relegation for another year.

It's been a shit season really with too many off field schenanigans, especially since Xmas, and far too many home losses for my liking.

Let's hope we come back stronger in September.

Also, a good day for Glamorgan today. Good tons from Powell and Jamie D, and then 2 late wickets for James Harris. Good stuff!

Defeat to Derbyshire

Glamorgan fell to a 2nd defeat in the 50 over Friends Provident Trophy today at Derbyshire.

This was mainly due to the batsmen not firing (with the exception of Captain Jamie Dalrymple) and the continued, absolute nonsense of leaving out the finest all rounder ever to play for the club, Robert Croft.

Why can't Matt Maynard see sense? Oh yes, he can't stand Crofty.

Glamorgan and Glamorgan Wanderers

An encouraging 1st Championship display from Glamorgan, with the boys getting at least as much as Middlesex from their draw at Lord's.

Centuries from Cosgrove, Wallace and Dalrymple bode well for the season. Let's see Rees and Co do so next match.

Of more concern is Ebbw Vale's plight at the bottom of the Premiership. Unless, we get something at Aberavon next week, we are reliant on other results going our way - not a happy position. Please can we get something from our game and not rely on others - that never seems to work.

Be clear, relegation would be little short of a disaster for our rugby club.

Will get round to it bit by bit.

Turrah for a bit!!

Ok, the blog will go a bit quiet over the next 10 days or so.

It's all to do with a certain tying of the knot, and a subsequent little jaunt to see El Presidente Mr Castro.

I'll miss 2 home Ebbw games, Poola on Sat, and Swansea next Tuesday, and by the time we get back the mighty Glam will have finished their match against Oxford Uni and will have kicked off their 50 over FPT campaign against Lancashire at Old Trafford.

So see you all soon!!

Demise of Top Flight Rugby in the Valleys

Have a look at this article on the Pontypridd RFC website regarding Andy Deering, a research student at Brighton Uni, who is writing a project on 'the demise of top flight rugby in the valleys' and is looking for contributions.
.
He is planning to include a section dedicated to Ebbw Vale and their poor treatment from the Dragons.
.
I've offered help on this basis, but of course I haven't forgotten about the Gang Of 6. http://www.ponty.net/the-demise-of-top-class-rugby-in-the-valleys
