A disappointing home defeat for the Steelmen, who led for most of the game but fell away badly in the last quarter, as the superior fitness and speed of the visitors took their toll.
After some early penalty exchanges, Ebbw's pack power told as Dave Whiting went over from close range. A conversion and two more penalties gave the home side a 16-6 lead at the interval and all was looking good, even if the wind was going to be with the Quins in second half.
After the interval, the game changed character completely. The Vale had no answer to the driving maul of the visitors from the West as they went over 3 times plus a penalty try, to deliver 22 points without reply.
Ebbw really ran out of 'puff' in the last 20 minutes, and, looking forward, fitness levels must improve to be able to be competitive at this level.
