Glamorgan made a solid start to their first fixture in Division One for 21 years after winning the toss and electing to bat on a bright, sunny morning at Sophia Gardens.
Opponents Leicestershire, also newly promoted, had the home side in early trouble at 91/4 but Glamorgan were indebted to captain Kiran Carlson with 95 and new recruit Sean Dickson, 90, who put on 126 for the fifth wicket.
There was further resistance down the order as Glamorgan ended the day on 334/7 with Timm van der Gugten unbeaten on 22 and Mason Crane likewise on 48 as the pair added an unbeaten 69 by the close of play.
