Ebbw Vale went down to successive Saturday, home derby defeats with this reverse against Heads of the Valleys rivals, Merthyr.
In fairness, this was a much tighter affair than last week's shambles against Newport, but nonetheless it was a game Ebbw could have won but it seems that confidence is low at the moment, with a string of squad injuries not helping.
Merthyr started the better and were 10-3 up quite quickly, with just a Ryan Evans penalty for the Steelmen. A second try extended the lead, with a late Joe Westwood penalty giving home fans some hope.
Ebbw improved in the second half as Westwood added a further penalty, but more Merthyr pressure sealed matters with a now 20-9 lead. A late Dafydd Howells try closed the scoreline somewhat, but the spoils in the Iron v Steel 'El Classico' went west.
