Ebbw Vale 43 Swansea 3, Premiership, 24/03/18

Ebbw Vale comprehensively outclassed probably the worst Swansea side ever seen at Eugene Cross Park, scoring 5 unanswered tries and looking much sharper than they had against Neath 2 weeks before.

With a tough upcoming schedule, the coaches rung some changes behind the scrum and the opportunity was taken by scrum half Sam Ireland and outside half Lewis Dennett, who both had fine games.

Ebbw's tries came from Dan Haymond (2), Joe Franchi, Toby Fricker, and replacement Jon Davies, but in fairness this was an all round, outstanding team effort with contributions from all of the starting 15, plus the replacements.

Ebbw now travel to Carmarthen Quins on Good Friday, are home to Aberavon on Easter Monday, and then the big one, the cup semi final versus Merthyr at Pandy Park, Cross Keys on 7th April. It really is about time Ebbw won the cup, and are probably the biggest club in Wales to have never won it.

Ebbw Vale 22 Neath 6, Premiership, 10/03/18

As the snow brought by the 'Beast from the East' finally melted, it was a good opportunity for the Steelmen to entertain the former Beasts from the Gnoll, although it has to be said that the Welsh All Blacks are a shadow of what they once were.

It was relatively comfortable home win for Ebbw Vale as they continue their good form in the second half of the season.

Tries from Dai Jones and Ronny Kynes put Ebbw 14-0 up at the interval and a bonus point looked there for the taking, but Neath fought much harder after the break. That said Ebbw's solid defence ensured that Neath only had 2 penalties to show for their efforts.

Ebbw did manage one more try, from Toby Fricker, but sadly the bonus point eluded them.
