In their first home match of the season, Ebbw Vale made amends for an opening day defeat at Llanelli, by recording a relatively comfortable victory over keen rivals Newport.
In fairness, Newport contested well, and a bit more composure behind the scrum and at outside half in particular might have led to a different result.
As it was, first half tries from Ronny Kynes and Chris Levesley, both converted by the returning Josh Lewis, plus a penalty, sent Ebbw in at the break 17-3 up.
In second half, 3 more Lewis penalties, plus a converted try by him, got Ebbw up to 33 points, with Newport staying in the game with 2 good tries.
