Ebbw Vale forward power saw them through to a home quarter final in the SWALEC Cup after completing a third victory of the season over North Wales based WRU favourites RGC.
For once, the Steelmen didn't have it all their own way as, despite being 'mullered' up front, the youthful Gog outfit played some superb running rugby and kept the contest tense and the outcome uncertain until the end.
It didn't start like that as Ebbw powered their way to a 15-0 lead in as many minutes, but after a lengthy stoppage to attend to a nasty looking injury to the visitors' #10, RGC regrouped and got some fire into their game.
Fortunately, experience and strength up front saw Ebbw home, but the behind the scrum, the Steelmen will have to sharpen up for future contests, especially the quarter final against high flying Llandovery.
The Ebbw Vale tries were scored by Ross Jones, Wes Cunliffe, 2 penalty tries, Luke Davies and Cameron Reagan.
